Youtube: The Trolls Join Forces

I finally understand the true draw of blogging. I was just on Youtube and noticed the new Sundance Film Festival Films that have been posted, for a price, $3.99 for 48 hours, which seems pretty fair to me for a professionally made movie from a world famous festival that hasn't been released into the public outside of this site yet. However, I noticed that all of these films had ratings at 1 or 2 stars, I of course wanted to find out why, but I do not have 4 virtual dollars to spend, so I resorted to the comments below the video. I quickly found out the reasoning for these ratings as well as the title for this blog, the comments were flooded with trollish (internet troll: a person who roams the interwebs looking for things to complain about or make fun of) comments regarding the payment. I felt anger begin to grow within myself, people do not seem to understand the true purpose of Youtube. Yes, it is a user based website, that is one thing that makes Youtube great, but it was, or should I say has been developed to be, one of the most versatile websites on the internet. The way people were commenting, they seemed to expect everything in the unalienable internet to come to them for free. Essentially, the payment for these videos is just like going to see them in a theater, less than it would cost to see it in a theater, and before these films are typically released to the public in any situation. So, for anyone who disagrees with this pay-per-view option on Youtube, perhaps because they feel it disrupts the user control, don't combine it with that aspect, think of everything new on Youtube, and everything to come in the future of Youtube as a new website of sorts, something new and exciting in the ever-advancing internet.
